Sneaky ways to keep warm in school uniform
Most of the schools in India have school uniforms which need to be maintained strictly throughout the year. Uniforms may appear smart or boring to different people but the main problem with uniforms is that they are not weather friendly. For instance, in summers you feel extra warm in socks and shoe and feel cold in winters with no leg warmer. You cannot add your favourite cap or mittens to the uniform as you will probably be punished for that. But kids need to be well covered in winters or they might fall sick. There are some sneaky ways to keep warm in the school uniform. These will do the work without making the alterations stand out.
Every winter, there are days when you wake up and feel you have been teleported to a hill station or your alarm went off hours early. It is chilling cold outside but you have to go to school. Kid’s thermals can help you face the situation. These are super comfortable, warm, thin, and light weight. You can wear it under the school shirt and it will not show a bit. Thermals come in different materials. If you want normal warmth then wear cotton thermal or wear a woollen thermal for super warmth. While purchasing thermals check that they fit tightly, but not chokingly. If it is loose, it will not serve the purpose for which it is worn. Body heat will escape from the gaps and cold will creep inside. Also, you will not be able to wear your shirt and coat comfortably over it, if it is ill fitting. Make sure that the material of your thermal wicks away moisture from skin. Thermals come in different neutral colours like skin, grey and brown. Choose a shade that is lighter than your shirt so that it does not show. Boys can wear thermal lowers under school pants to keep the legs warm. Girls can wear skin colour warm stockings with skirts. It will not be much noticeable.
Another safe and full proof trick is to exchange your school socks for the make colour or design woollen socks. Feet lose a lot of heat and so need to be well covered. The regular cotton socks or nylon mixed socks do not do much to keep the cold away. Woollen socks are the best for trapping body heat and keeping you warm throughout the day.
Temperature is the lowest in the morning when you leave home for school. Whether you take a bus or walk, this is the time when you have to deal with bitterest cold. How about wearing your stuffed wind resistant jacket over your uniform? This will keep you from cluttering throughout the way. Take it off once you reach school and it will not raise an eyebrow. You can also use a shawl, cap or scarf in the same way. If the way to your school is windy, you might consider carrying earmuffs.
Hope these little adjustments keep you warm and out of trouble.
